Ever wonder how an inflatable paddle board is made? How it can be light enough to carry with one hand, stays in perfect shape after a 5 to 10 mins pumping air into it, or be able to withstand one or two grown man on top of it in the water? Below, we give you a brief introduction on what is the process of making an inflatable board.
At the core of each inflatable stand up paddle board is the inner bladder, made of something called- drop stitch fabric. This material is a relatively new, only made available on an industrial level in the past decade or so. Even now, the material is still not widely available. It requires manufacturers to invest millions into machinery and possess the right technology to produce proper-sized quality sheets of it. But that would be another big topic.
